This seal is widely used across a range of small to mid-sized 2-stroke outboard motors. It is most commonly found in the following power ranges:
Horsepower (HP) Range: * 9.9 HP to 15 HP (Models from 1974–2007)
20 HP to 35 HP (Commonly 1970s through early 1980s models)
Specific Note: It is frequently found in the 1979–1980s 35 HP gearcases as the lower driveshaft retainer seal.
Application: It is typically installed in the Lower Unit (Gearcase) to prevent water from entering the gear housing and to keep gear lube from leaking out along the driveshaft.
